ALIEN

CALL FOR ENTRIES from artists and designers, emerging and established: seeking original projects exploring ideas on the theme ALIEN for an exhibition taking place May 2026 in New York.

Projects are to be conceptual and research oriented with a strong design narrative that presents a novel
approach and interpretation of the theme of ALIEN. Be that through material, intent, technique, form, etc.. Both one offs and work produced in multiples are welcome. Work in the exhibition will be for sale
with proceeds split between the exhibitors and the artists/designers.

FORMAT & SCALE: Proposed projects should result in physical work for display that is restrained in size to a maximum footprint of roughly 12” x 12” per piece. A few larger pieces may be considered but space is limited.  

PROPOSALS: In order to be considered for the exhibition artists and designers must send a project or proposal with their portfolio or link to existing work to paraphernalia.exhibition@gmail.com. Proposals do not need to be work that exists but should be work you can produce within the given timeline. Proposals can be written ideas, sketches, a collection of reference images, renderings - however you prefer to express your vision. Works will be selected based on uniqueness of idea and proof of quality in previous work.

If submitting existing work which has been previously exhibited, please include where and when the work has been shown. Applications for new work proposals should include a timeline of development.

SUBMISSION FEE: Each submission requires a $25 fee to be paid via Paypal @DesignParaphernalia When making payment, please include a note indicating the name/s related to corresponding submission.

This will be the third iteration of PARAPHERNALIA, an exhibition series curated by Jess Fügler and Eliza Axelson-Chidsey. The two designers met on the Design Products course at the Royal College of Art, London, and both live and work in New York.
