BeamThe idea of alien speaks to both distance and attraction, something unknown that draws us in. In design, it suggests an object that feels slightly out of place, yet irresistibly compelling, as if it has arrived from another world. Beam explores this tension between the familiar and the foreign, translating the mythology of UFOs into a quiet, minimal, domestica artifact. The project looks at how forms associated with science fiction and the "otherworldly" can be reimagined through a language of rational, functional design. At a core, this project is a study of light and structure. The lamp consists of a machined aluminum base— circular and matte, echoing the iconic saucer silhouettes that once defined mid-century minimalism.
